Lofilo’s world is a sequence of fabulous images which
threaten the surrounding reality and posit a new dimension.
The dimension is that of play, where all pictorial tools
are permitted, where the eternal experimentation transforms
dreams into dancing pictures, into faintly sketched faces.
This is partly a result of the use of many different materials,
evading our immediate perception but materialising in continual
plays of light and colour.
In their simplicity, Lofilo’s works represent a prelude
to the continual evolution of the young artist, committed
to the creation of a hyper-reality based on total freedom,
where human values prevail over pictorial techniques. Effectively,
Lofilo decided to take an active part in the project promoted
by Gregorio Mancino, creator of “Movimentart”,
at the prison of Bassone in Como, to emphasise the importance
of art at the service of the community and contemporarily
woven into the social fabric, transcending all material aspects.
Lofilo’s is a message of great hope; in the spasmodic
search for new media and recycled materials he celebrates
the lightness and joy of life, in the hope of winning over
a space free from all prejudice in which the vivid images
are associated with the positive aspects of human existence.
For the artist everything can be transformed, so that the
discarded coffee sacks are masked as phantoms, the cardboard
faces of dolls are camouflaged by brushstokes and bright
colours, acorns become elves or warriors on an improvised
battleground, pieces of iron become musical instruments;
imagination transits tireless and multi-faceted through Lofilo’s
canvases.
Dating to 2004 is his first show, set up in the Bianca
Maria Rizzi gallery, where figurative and abstract works alternate,
highlighting Lofilo’s conception of colour which appears
to take over the principles of Goethe, giving an absolute
importance to chromatic assonance and dissonance. Colour
becomes a vital symbol, unique and crucial in the painting-sculpture
of the artist.
